I'm a bit late on this, so please excuse my last minute update.

I "LOVE" this place! Alcove Cafe & Bakery is one of the best places to go if you're in the LA area ready to sit down, and have some cake with tea on the side. It's also a really good restaurant, so don't be afraid to check out the menu, and have a bite of the great gourmets they offer. Trust me, you won't regret it. Treat yourself once in a while.
If you're 21 or over don't be shy to go to the Big Bar on the side of the Bakery. The restaurant is split into two sections, and the outside front is an open outdoor patio that's just a great place to catch up with friends, unwind, or have some alone time.
Good luck finding parking, but there's also valet parking available.
I went during 10 pm, and I didn't want to take pictures of the patio while costumers were have a good time,so I stole these pictures from google. Just so you can get an image of the front patio and the bar.
